Distribution and marketing

Age Of Extinction cost no more than 3 - 5
million to market to Chinese moviegoers a big contrast to the $100 million prints and advertising spent in North America.

Transformers has a website showing videos, photos and facts about the characters. They also show that there is an app available for download.

A website has said that ‘Iron Man 3,'” have catered to the Chinese market with local premieres, the casting of Chinese actors and even extra scenes shot specifically for that audience. But “Transformers” was clearly a joint effort from its Chinese and American producers from the start.

Transformers teamed up with Hasbro to be able to make Transformers Age Of Extinction toys for ages 5 +.  This is a good marketing technique to use because children will go and see the film and then they will want to play with the play as their favourite characters in the film meaning they will spend money in order to buy a Transformer toy.

Transformers was shown on  4,233 theatres all around the world. Released only in 3-D and IMAX 3-D, the sci-fi film accounted for approximately 57% of all screenings nationwide.  On 30th September 2014, the film was released on DVD, Blu-ray, in the USA and Canada, and 17th November in the UK. The film is also available to buy on iTunes at £9.99 for SD and £13.99 for HD.
